During our on boarding process you are asked to provide us with information regarding kitty’s health history. If your cat shows signs of illness or injury, we will make every attempt to contact you. If we are unable to reach you, we will call your emergency contact for direction. If we are unable to reach either we will rely on your vet’s discretion. All of our cat sitters have access to your vet information at each visit.
If your cat requires vet assistance, we will bring your cat to your vet. If it isn’t within their operating hours, we will bring kitty to the emergency vet.
Summit Professional Services,. is not responsible for any cost incurred as a result of a vet visit. This is why we encourage you to call your vet prior to each out-of-town trip and have your credit card on file.
Additional time spent transporting your cat to the vet, whether for a vet visit or for after-care, will be billed at our hourly rate in effect.
There are a couple reasons why we cannot do every-other-day visits. It’s a safety issue. We have seen instances where kitties have gotten themselves into unusual places and they need assistance to get out – got themselves trapped in a closet or bathroom, for instance. As well, cats are very good at hiding illnesses. A lot can change in 48 hours and by that time, it may even be too late for medical intervention at a vet. We visit every 24 hours to make sure kitty is healthy and has access to their food and water.
Towards the end of our visit, your catsitter will take a couple of minutes to write you a message about the visit, often including photos if kitties are willing posers. Should the sitter have any concerns about something that happened during our visit we will include details.
If we are visiting with your fur kids more than once a day, we generally send one update per day.
When there is no medical reason to visit at a specified time, we ask owners to book ‘Any time of day’ visits. In this case we choose, based on schedule and travel route, the best time to visit with your kitties.
You also have the option to tailor your visits to your travel plans. If you are leaving very early in the morning and would like a visit the same day, you can select a visit time customized to your travel schedule.
Twice-a-day visits are scheduled 8-12 hours apart. Kitties that require time-sensitive medicines will be given priority.
We do our absolute best to accommodate your visit time requests. However, please bear in mind, we are dealing with kitties and traffic… both are unpredictable.
Each home is assigned two primary cat sitters, along with back-up cat sitters. Typically the person coming to do your in-home consultation is one of your primary cat sitters. Your primary sitters will be completing your visits whenever they are available. But, like yourself, no one wants to work 365 days a year and everyone gets sick once in a while, or wants a day off. It is on these days that a back-up sitter will be doing the visits with your kitties.
You sure can! It is not required, but if you feel your cat sitter has gone the extra mile, feel free to tip accordingly. All tips in their entirety will be given to your cat sitter and not held by Summit Professional Services.
Tips can be left in 2 ways: you can leave a tip in your home in an envelope addressed to your sitters or you can add a tip to your invoice, tips can even be added after services have been completed by adding to past invoices.
